Akash, a doctor of philosophy, and Chaitra, a "real" doctor, met for the first time in California by sheer luck at BJ’s in 2022. Root beer was Chaitra’s favorite drink, and guess who planned to ruin it for her for the rest of her life on their first meeting? Akash asked her, “Why does root beer taste like Iodex (a pain balm)?” Guess who never drank root beer after that…

They were great friends in the beginning, and love bloomed slowly. Akash knew Chaitra was his girl in one particular moment. One day, Akash and Chaitra drove one and a half hours from her place to his place in LA. Men being men... Akash forgot his home key back at Chaitra’s place and realized only when he panickingly searched for the keys in his pocket. Chaitra, being an amazing partner, didn’t say a single word and cracked jokes all the way along when they drove back again to pick up his key. It was this moment that he was impressed by Chaitra’s patience and kindness.

Akash knew that (better be thankful for a little birdie named Jaja) Chaitra would love an intimate proposal with only close friends and family. He and his friends planned a blockbuster proposal on a yacht with her brother and close friends. Chaitra thought it was a casual photo shoot for their friend Jin’s dating profile, so she didn’t question it and thought she would sneakily get some good photos for herself. Akash put up an act that he is feeling seasick, to distract Chaitra in a private cabin inside the yacht. Meanwhile, his friends were setting up the surprise proposal. Then Akash got down on one knee and asked her to marry him... She said “Yes!!!”
