Akash’s and family enters the wedding hall

Chaitra’s mom welcomes Akash with an aarti.

Chaitra’s father will escort his little putti (Chaitra) to the mandap.

Akash and Chaitra will exchange flower garlands

The wedding ceremony begins with a prayer to Lord Ganesh, who is the remover of all obstacles and symbolizes peace, friendship and happiness

Akash ties the sacred mangal sutra and places sindoor on her forehead. They exchange the wedding bands.

A length of cloth now links Akash and Chaitra.

The pandit ignites a sacred fire that is the divine witness to the ceremony. It sheds light on the ceremony and expels any darkness or ignorance.

Chaitra’s parents gives her hand in marriage to Akash. Akash’s parents offers gifts to Chaitra.

Akash and Chaitra take seven steps together. Each step signifying the different aspects of marriage that uphold true companionship for eternity.

With Agni as witness. Akash and Chaitra circle the fire together four times symbolizing their journey of life along the four paths (Righteousness, wealth/prosperity, deeds and enlightenment).

Chaitra’s family bid farewell to Chaitra as she proceeds to her new home with her life partner.

Akash and Chaitra receive blessings from the priest, parents and the elders.
